For your information, it's good to know that most of the cPanel-based Hosting offerings on today's web hosting market are supplied by a quite unsubstantial marketing niche (as far as annual cash flow is concerned) dubbed reseller hosting. Reseller web hosting is a type of a small-sized business segment, which generates a huge amount of different web hosting brands, yet providing literally the same solutions: mostly cPanel web hosting solutions. This is bad news for everyone. Why? Because of the fact that at least 98% of the website hosting offers on the entire web hosting marketplace supply absolutely the same solution: cPanel. There's no diversity at all. Even the cPanel-based Hosting price tags are alike. Very similar. Leaving for those who require a top web hosting service practically no other website hosting platform/website hosting CP choice. So, there is just one single fact: out of more than two hundred thousand web hosting brands all over the world, the non-cPanel based ones are less than two percent! Less than 2%, remark that one...

Two hundred thousand "Hosting providers", all cPanel-based, yet diversely named

The Hosting "diversity" and the web hosting "offerings" Google shows to us come down to just one and the very same thing: cPanel. Under hundreds of thousands of different web hosting brand names. Suppose you are simply a regular person who's not very well aware of (as most of us) with the website making procedures and the web hosting platforms, which actually power the respective domains and web pages. Are you prepared to make your hosting selection? Is there any web hosting variant you can pick? Of course there is, right now there are more than two hundred thousand web hosting firms out there. Officially. Then where is the problem? Here's where: more than 98 percent of these 200k+ unique web hosting brand names worldwide will offer you absolutely the same cPanel website hosting CP and platform, branded in a different way, with exactly the same price tags! WOW! That's how huge the diversity on the current web hosting market is... Full stop.

The Hosting LOTTO we are all participating in

Simple math shows that to run into a non-cPanel based web hosting corporation is a huge stroke of fortune. There is a less than 1 in 50 chance that something like that will take place! Less than 1 in fifty...

The pluses and minuses of the cPanel-based Hosting solution

Let's not be merciless with cPanel. At least, in the years 2001-2004 cPanel was modern and presumably answered most hosting industry demands. In short, cPanel can do the job for you if you have just one domain to host. But, if you have more domain names...

Negative Aspect No.1: A stupid domain name folder configuration

If you have two or more domains, however, be ultra cautious not to remove completely the add-on ones (that's how cPanel will refer to each subsequent hosted domain name, which is not the default one: an add-on domain name). The files of the add-on domain names are quite simple to remove on the web hosting server, since they all are created into the root folder of the default domain name, which is the very famous public_html folder. Each add-on domain is a folder situated inside the folder of the default domain name. Like a sub-folder. Next time attempt not to remove the files of the add-on domain names, please. See for yourself how marvelous cPanel's domain folder structure is:

public_html (here my-default-domain.com is situated)
public_html/my-family (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-domain.com (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-second-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-wife.net (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-third-domain.com (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-third-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-third-wife.net (an add-on domain)
public_html/rebeka (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/rebeka.my-third-wife.net (a sub-domain of an add-on domain name)

Are you getting baffled? We undoubtedly are!

Negative Side Number 2: The same email folder setup

The email folder structure on the web server is exactly the same as that of the domain names... Repeating the very same mistake twice?!? The sysadmin boys firmly reinforce their belief in God when tackling the electronic mail folders on the email server, hoping not to mess things up too harshly.

Drawback Number 3: A total absence of domain manipulation GUIs

Do we need to cite the thorough deficiency of a contemporary domain management interface - a place where you can: register/move/renew/park or administer domain names, alter domain names' Whois info, protect the Whois info, modify/set up nameservers (DNS) and Domain Name System resource records? cPanel does not incorporate such a "modern" menu at all. That's a mammoth inconvenience. An unjustifiable one, we wish to add...

Weakness No.4: Many user login locations (minimum 2, maximum 3)

What about the demand for an additional login to avail of the invoicing transaction, domain name and tech support management tool? That's beside the cPanel account login credentials you've been already supplied by the cPanel Hosting company. Sometimes, based on the billing system (particularly meant for cPanel only) the cPanel Hosting distributor is making use of, the avid users can end up with 2 extra logins (1: the billing/domain name management GUI; 2: the ticket support menu), ending up with a total of three user login locations (counting cPanel).

Predicament Number Five: More than a hundred and twenty website hosting CP menus to learn... briskly

cPanel offers for your consideration more than 120 sections inside the web hosting Control Panel. It's a great idea to grasp each one of them. And you'd better grasp them briskly... That's very impudent on cPanel's side.

With all due respect, we have a rhetorical question for all cPanel Hosting corporations:

As far as we are aware of, it's not the year 2001, is it? Note that one as well...
